Cloudy urine after taking UTI antibiotics

Reviewed by Dr Jonah Mink, April 21'25 sec read

Cloudy urine can be a sign of a UTI. As the body tries to fight the infection, white blood cells travel to the bladder and create pus. Pus within the urine gives it a cloudy or turbid appearance. When an infection is treated with a course of antibiotics, the body’s immune system continues to fight the infection, too. The amount of pus produced by the body should gradually reduce as the number of bacterial organisms declines. Once a UTI is fully treated, the urine should become clear again.

If your urine remains cloudy despite completing a course of antibiotics, there may be a different or additional reason for this and further examination may be required.
